CAROLINE VAN

Caroline Van is an independent advisor based in Hong Kong and Minnesota.  She has 17 years of international banking experience in Chicago, San Francisco, New York, Hong Kong, and Singapore while managing businesses for Citibank, Morgan Stanley, and as Managing Director for Bankers Trust.  She established the foreign exchange advisory business for Morgan Stanley in New York, and the primary Asia dealing room for global clients in Hong Kong where she served on the firm’s first Asia Management Committee.  Ms. Van’s nonprofit board service for three decades has focused on music, education, social change, and nature conservation. She was a founder of the Green Long March environmental youth movement in China, a legacy of the Beijing “green” Olympics. She was elected the first Asia-based member of the Yale Alumni Association’s Board of Governors and served as an Executive Officer. She is president emeritus of the Yale Club of Hong Kong and local director of the Alumni Schools Committee; she received Yale’s inaugural ASC Alumni Excellence Award in 2013 and the Yale Medal in 2019.

Ms. Van is passionate about promoting mentorship and career-life balance, and living by core values that engender lasting relationships, success, and peace of mind. She holds a B.A. from Yale and an M.B.A. from Chicago Booth. She is married with four children and two grandchildren.
